What should I do if a Korean university assignment template is an HWP file that my laptop cannot open?
If an international student in Daegu receives an HWP assignment template but cannot open it on a Mac, which campus support service should they ask for help? Before converting the file, should they check with the lecturer whether DOCX or PDF submissions are accepted? How can they confirm that any required tables and headings remain intact?

Ask the lecturer or teaching assistant first whether you must edit and return the original HWP template, or whether a DOCX or PDF submission is acceptable. Being able to read a converted file does not necessarily mean it meets the assignment requirements. Send a screenshot of the opening error and ask for an accessible copy as soon as you encounter the problem.
For technical help, contact your university’s IT help desk or library and ask whether they provide a campus computer or a university-approved way to open and edit HWP files. The international student office can help you find the right contact if the support instructions are only in Korean. Availability depends on the university; do not assume a particular service is offered just because the campus is in Daegu.
Before submitting a converted file, compare it with the original as displayed on a compatible campus computer, or ask the lecturer for a reference PDF. Check the headings, table rows and columns, merged cells, page breaks, page numbers, and any text that may have moved or disappeared. Reopen the actual submission file to check it, rather than relying only on the editing preview. Avoid uploading an assignment containing personal or unpublished information to an unfamiliar online converter.
