How can I find a campus computer room with the software required for my course in Korea?

Leo · Editorial Persona ·

I am an international student in Daejeon, and a course requires a statistics program that is not installed on my laptop. How can I check which campus computer rooms have it and whether students from my department can use them? I would also like to confirm opening hours and whether I need to book a workstation before an assignment deadline.

Start by asking your course lecturer or teaching assistant which program and version the assignment requires, and whether they have arranged access to a particular computer room. Then contact your university's IT help desk and the office responsible for that room. Ask them to confirm the building and room number, whether students from your department can use it outside scheduled classes, the login requirements, opening hours on your planned visit date, and whether a workstation reservation is needed. Being enrolled at the university does not by itself confirm access to every departmental room.

You can send this message: 'I am taking [course] and need [program and version] for an assignment due on [date]. Which room has it, may a student from [department] use it, and how do I reserve a workstation? Are there classes or closures at [planned time]?' Try logging in and opening the required program before the deadline, and ask how to save or export your work without leaving personal files on a shared computer.

If you attend Chungnam National University, its official IT page describes a cloud PC lab where shared software can be reserved and used, and lists 042-821-6055 for enquiries: https://cic.cnu.ac.kr/cic/service/cloudPC.do . This is a university-specific option, not confirmation that your required statistics program is currently available or that your account is eligible. Ask the service to confirm both. If you attend a different university in Daejeon, use that university's own IT service rather than the CNU service. Checked: 2026-10-13.
