TOPIK Preparation: Reading, Listening, Writing and the Separate Speaking Test

WeBring ·

Before preparing for TOPIK, check both your target level and the format you have booked. TOPIK I tests listening and reading for Levels 1–2. TOPIK II tests listening, reading and writing for Levels 3–6. TOPIK Speaking is a separate assessment, not a section of TOPIK I or II.

Practice by skill

  • Reading: Use past papers to practise gap-fill, main-idea and inference questions. Record unfamiliar vocabulary and grammar patterns, and check the evidence in the passage rather than choosing an answer from a few keywords.
  • Listening: Focus on key nouns, verbs and the speaker’s intent. If you miss a detail, keep following the recording. Use only the notes and tools permitted for your test format.
  • Writing: Outline your argument and supporting points, then check particles, tense and predicates. Sentence-completion answers need endings that fit the surrounding text; one ending does not suit every task.
  • Speaking: The separate TOPIK Speaking assessment has six tasks and takes about 30 minutes. Practise with the official preparation and response limits, record yourself, and review pronunciation and structure. School and job interviews may use different formats.

Rehearse the format you booked

Paper-based (PBT) and internet-based (IBT) tests differ in question counts and timing. Practise handwriting and answer-sheet marking for PBT, or keyboard input and on-screen tools for IBT. Follow your format’s official section order and time limits in mock tests. Review unfinished tasks as well as wrong answers. A fixed study period does not guarantee a higher level.

Check registration dates and detailed instructions on the official TOPIK website.
