Songdo cable car, 19,000 won return — and which side to sit on

WeBring ·

The Songdo Marine Cable Car in Busan costs 19,000 won return for an adult, or 24,000 won for a crystal cabin. Those were the fares confirmed in September 2026, so check the current price before boarding. More usefully: which side you sit on decides what you actually see.

Which side to sit on

Departing from Songnim Park, take a seat on the right. Departing from Amnam Park, take a seat on the left. Both put you facing Yeongdo and the Namhang Bridge rather than the hillside. The run between the two stations is about 1.62km, reaching around 86m above sea level at its highest point. One way takes eight to ten minutes, and allowing thirty to forty minutes covers the return trip.

Operating hours change with the season

  • December to February — 09:00 to 20:00
  • March to June and September to November — 09:00 to 21:00
  • July and August — 09:00 to 22:00

Ticket sales close 30 minutes before the final run. This is the detail that catches people arriving late for sunset: miss that cutoff and you do not board at all, regardless of the posted closing time. Operations can also be suspended for safety in strong wind, so check the live notice before travelling rather than assuming the published hours hold.

Worth knowing before you go

If buying online, check the valid dates and conditions. The operator's guidance states that standard online tickets can be used from the following day, and buying in advance does not reserve a time slot or grant priority boarding. Electric wheelchairs cannot be taken on board, though standard wheelchairs can, so ask on site about transferring. Pushchairs must be folded. Signage and cabin announcements are provided in Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese.

What to combine it with

The Songdo Cloud Trail links the mainland to Geobuk Island at the eastern end of the beach. It is free and, according to the Busan tourism portal, open from 06:00 to 23:00, though temporary safety closures take precedence over those hours. The coastal Bolle-gil path toward Amnam Park mixes gravel, decking and stairs, so wear trainers, and parts of it close at high tide.

Half-day and full-day routes, parking, transport connections and what to do in poor weather are in the Songdo cable car guide on the WeBring blog.
