I moved — when and where must a foreigner report a change of address?

Vu Thi Lan ·

I recently moved to a different neighborhood and heard that foreigners have to report a change of address separately. I'm not sure whether I just file a move-in report at the community center like Koreans do, or whether I also have to notify the immigration office. I heard there's a deadline and a fine if you're late, so I'd like to know the exact process and documents needed.

After moving, foreigners must report their change of address within 14 days of moving in, or you risk a fine. It used to require a trip to the immigration office, but now you can do it at the same time as your move-in report (전입신고) at the community center (주민센터) for your new address — they process the foreigner address change together, so it's one visit. Bring your ARC and your new lease (or another document proving you live there); you can also file it online through HiKorea, whichever is easier.
