With Seoul summers regularly hitting 35C, you can stay cool all day by minimizing time outdoors and linking underground malls, exhibitions, and cafes. Here are courses centered on Gangnam and downtown.

Beat the Heat in Seoul: 3 Indoor Routes Through Underground Malls, Exhibits and Cafes

Gangnam underground course

Start at the Gangnam Station underground mall and continue to COEX Mall, SEA LIFE Aquarium, and Byeolmadang Library, mostly connected underground so outdoor exposure stays under 5 minutes. COEX Mall runs 10:30 to 22:00, and SEA LIFE 10:00 to 20:00 (last entry 19:00, adult online 27,000 won).

Heatwave tips

  • At lunchtime, big malls are coolest and have seats, restrooms, and water
  • Aquariums and exhibits with long indoor walking routes are great for cooling down
  • Gangnam Station has many exits, so meet by exit number

An indoor-heavy route is especially handy with kids or first-time visitors.
