For summer relief, you don't have to go far. Here are 8 valleys in and near Seoul reachable by subway plus a short walk. Note that some are protected areas where entering the water is banned.
Recommended valleys
- Sillim Valley (Gwanaksan): the closest thing to a water-play area in Seoul (shallow)
- Byeokun Valley (Suraksan): 10 minutes from the subway, cool water sounds and a deck path
- Gingorang Valley (Achasan): Gunja Station then a village bus, a hidden urban valley
- Suseong-dong Valley (Inwangsan): near Seochon and Gyeongbokgung, foot-dipping only
- Ueidong Valley (Bukhansan): great for valley-view walks but no entering the water
Caution
Even for 'water play,' some sections allow only dipping your hands and feet while others ban entry entirely, so check whether entering the water is allowed before you go.
