Getting a Korean driver license involves three steps. First you take a written test, then a driving course, and finally a road test. You can take the written test in English at most testing centers. The questions cover traffic laws, road signs, and basic driving knowledge, and you need to score 60 out of 100 to pass. There are about 1,000 questions in the question bank but only 40 appear on each test. You can find practice tests on the driving license exam website from the Korea Road Traffic Authority, or search for Korean driving test English on your app store for free practice apps.
After passing the written test, you do a mandatory driving education course which takes about 6 hours for a regular license. Then you take the road test at the testing center. The whole process can be done in about a week if you book quickly. Many driving academies called 운전학원 offer package deals that include all the training and tests for around 600,000 to 800,000 won. Some academies in Seoul like YBM or those in Gangnam area have English-speaking instructors.
