I'm renting an apartment in Korea for only 2 years and don't want to buy everything new. Are there furniture rental services or platforms for used furniture?

Renting furniture in Korea is increasingly common, and used furniture is widely available. Here are the main options.

Furniture rental services. Hyundai L Friends, LG Best Shop Rental, and SK Magic offer furniture rental subscriptions. They cover sofas, beds, dining tables, and major appliances on monthly contracts (typically 1 to 3 years). Costs are usually 30,000 to 100,000 won per month per item, with maintenance and replacement included. Good for 2-year lease holders who do not want to buy.

For short-term rentals (1 to 6 months), companies like Onmi Furniture and Furniture Rent Korea offer flexible packages aimed at expats and students. Bedroom set rental runs around 200,000 to 400,000 won per month for full furnishing.

Used furniture platforms. Danggeun Market (당근마켓) is the easiest source for cheap used furniture. Search 가구, 침대, 소파 (furniture, bed, sofa). Many sellers will deliver locally for a fee. Bunjang and Junggonara also have nationwide used listings with shipping.

Moving company auctions. Korean moving companies often have showrooms or warehouses with previously used items at deep discounts. Search 중고 가구 매장 (used furniture store) in your area. Areas around Yongsan, Mapo, and Songpa have several.

Ikea Korea sells affordable new flatpack furniture, and resale value through Danggeun is usually 30 to 50 percent of new, so you can recoup some cost when leaving. Many expats buy Ikea on arrival, use for 2 years, and resell when they leave.
