Jeonju Hanok Village packs its sights, food and photo spots into about 800 m between Gyeonggijeon and Omokdae. Half a day is enough — but the wrong order makes you walk the hill twice.
The reverse-U route
Start at the Pungnammun public car park and go in this order.
- Gyeonggijeon — 3,000 won entry; the bamboo grove is the photograph
- Jeondong Cathedral — a Romanesque stone building you can frame with hanok roofs
- The main village alley — food and strolling
- Omokdae viewpoint — the rooftops at sunset
The point of this order is that you climb once, at the end. Take Omokdae first and come back down, and the same energy buys you half the village.
Hanbok rental — do the arithmetic on hours
Dozens of rental shops cluster in the entrance alley, at 15,000 to 25,000 won for adults with a three- to four-hour base.
Arrive before 10am and the full-day rate is the better buy. A three-hour rental will not reach Omokdae at sunset. And since Gyeonggijeon and the cathedral do not open before 9am, renting too early wastes the clock at the other end.
What this route leaves out
This is half a day. Staying the night means working backwards from bags and check-in time, and the makgeolli alleys are outside the village entirely. Both are covered separately.
