Jeju oreum trekking is the most efficient way to enjoy Jeju's nature without climbing Hallasan's summit. There are 368 oreum (small volcanic cones) across the island, most 100 to 400m high, so beginners can reach the top in 30 minutes to an hour.
What is an oreum
Oreum are small volcanic cones formed alongside Hallasan's eruptions. You can climb them in sneakers, and the summits open up panoramas of the coastline, Hallasan, and neighboring cones.
Easy beginner courses
- Yongnuni Oreum (247m, 40 to 60 min round trip): gentle ridge, 360-degree views
- Saebyeol Oreum (519m, 40 to 50 min): open views of Hallasan
- Darangshi Oreum: a round, moon-like crater
Summits are windy, so bring a layer and check trail-opening status before you go.
