I have seen traditional markets around my neighborhood but they are intimidating because everything is in Korean and I do not know the etiquette. How do I shop at a Korean traditional market? Are the prices really better than supermarkets?

Don't be intimidated, since a translation app and pointing get you a long way, and prices are often better than supermarkets for produce and street food. Bargaining is fine for bulk or non-food items, and friendly regulars often get a little extra thrown in (덤). Bring cash and a bag, try the prepared foods like jeon and tteokbokki, and markets like Gwangjang are very used to foreign visitors.
