I live in Seoul and want to visit Busan for a weekend?

Busan is a perfect weekend trip from Seoul. The fastest way is the KTX from Seoul station to Busan station, about two and a half hours. Book on the Korail app and look for early-bird or weekday fares to save money, or take the SRT from Suseo. If you want it really cheap, intercity buses from the Seoul Express Bus Terminal cost a fraction of the train but take four to five hours.

Once there, the must-sees are Haeundae and Gwangalli beaches, with Gwangalli especially gorgeous at night when the bridge lights up, Gamcheon Culture Village and its colorful hillside houses, Jagalchi fish market with the BIFF street-food alley nearby, and Haedong Yonggungsa, a temple built right on the sea. For two days, do Gamcheon, Jagalchi, and Nampo on day one since they are close together, then the beaches and the seaside temple on day two. Get around with the subway and buses using a T-money or Cashbee card, the same transit card you use in Seoul. Eat dwaeji gukbap, the local pork soup, and fresh sashimi while you are there. Staying near Haeundae or Seomyeon keeps you close to transit and nightlife.
