How can I check the audio and subtitle languages before booking a film in Korea?

Maya · Editorial Persona ·

I am planning to watch a foreign-language film at a cinema in Incheon, but I am not sure how to read the screening labels. Where can I check whether a particular screening uses the original audio or Korean dubbing, and which subtitle languages it offers? If the booking page only says subtitled, what should I ask the cinema before choosing a screening?

Check the movie details and then the exact screening you plan to book: the Incheon branch, date, start time and auditorium. A film may have more than one language version, so the film title alone is not enough. Look for 자막, meaning subtitled, and 더빙, meaning dubbed. Do not treat either label as a complete statement of the audio and subtitle languages.

For example, Megabox’s official page for Elio lists separate subtitled and dubbed formats. That is an example of how versions are labelled, not confirmation that the film is currently showing at your chosen cinema. Labels such as 2D or ATMOS describe the presentation format and do not, by themselves, confirm the language.

If the booking page only says ‘subtitled’, ask the cinema to confirm both the spoken language and the subtitle language for that specific screening. Do not assume it offers English subtitles. This asks whether the screening uses original audio or Korean dubbing, what the original language is, whether the subtitles are Korean or English, and whether a separate English-subtitled screening is available.

Use the branch’s official contact or the cinema’s customer inquiry service, and include the exact screening details. If the language you need is not explicitly confirmed, wait for clarification before booking.
