How do I try skiing or snowboarding in Korea this winter?
I want to try skiing or snowboarding in Korea this winter. Which resorts are best, how much does it cost, and what do I need to know as a foreigner?

Korean ski season runs from late November through early March, with the best snow in late December through February. Foreigners are welcomed and most resorts have English signage, equipment rental, and ski school. The big resorts are mostly in Gangwon-do (Pyeongchang area) and Gyeonggi-do near Seoul.
For day trips from Seoul, Konjiam Resort (Gwangju, Gyeonggi) is the closest at 50 minutes by car or shuttle bus, with night skiing until 5am and beginner-friendly slopes. Bears Town and Jisan Forest Resort (1.5 hours) are also Seoul day-trip favorites. For bigger mountains, Yongpyong (Pyeongchang, 2.5 hours by KTX) is Korea's largest with 28 slopes, hosted Olympic events, and has the longest run at 5.6km. Alpensia, Phoenix Park, High1, and Vivaldi Park are all top picks with 15 to 20 slopes each, ski-in/ski-out hotels, and full English support.
Costs: Lift ticket 70,000 to 90,000 won/day, full equipment rental (ski/snowboard, boots, poles) 30,000 to 50,000 won, ski clothing rental 25,000 to 35,000 won. Ski school for beginners runs 60,000 to 90,000 won for a 2-hour group lesson with English instructors at Yongpyong, Vivaldi, and High1. Package deals through Klook, Trazy, and Kim's Travel bundle transport, lift tickets, and rental from Seoul for around 130,000 to 170,000 won, much cheaper than booking separately.
What to bring: Sunglasses or goggles, warm gloves (rentals are basic), sunscreen, and your passport/ARC for ID. Korean ski culture leans more toward snowboarding than skiing, especially among young people. Resorts get crowded weekends, so weekday visits or night sessions (5pm-2am) offer shorter lift lines. The KTX from Seoul Station to Pyeongchang takes just 70 minutes.
