How do I travel with my small dog from Seoul to another country?
I want to travel with my small dog from Seoul to another country. How do I get an export health certificate, and which vet can help?

Traveling internationally with your dog from Korea requires some planning, but it's very doable. Here's the step-by-step process:
Step 1: Microchip (if not done already)
Your dog needs an ISO-compatible microchip (15 digits) Any vet in Korea can do this. Cost: around 20,000-30,000 won.
Step 2: Rabies vaccination
Must be current and given at least 30 days before travel (some countries require 3-6 months) Get the vaccination certificate from your vet.
Step 3: Export health certificate
Visit the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency (QIA) Location: Gimpo or Incheon airport quarantine office, or regional offices. Bring: your dog, passport, microchip certificate, vaccination records. Cost: around 10,000 won. Do this within 10 days of your departure.
Step 4: Check destination country requirements
Each country has different rules. EU countries require an EU health certificate. The US requires rabies vaccination proof. Some countries (UK, Japan, Australia) have strict quarantine requirements and may need blood titer tests months in advance.
Step 5: Airline booking
Small dogs (under 7-8kg with carrier) can usually fly in-cabin. Book early and notify the airline. Most Korean airlines charge 50,000-100,000 won for in-cabin pets. Get an IATA-approved carrier that fits under the seat.
