How do I use intercity and express bus terminals in Korea? Where do I book tickets, and what is the difference between express and intercity buses?

Using intercity and express buses is easy once you know the layout. The difference is that express buses run long distances mostly nonstop on highways between major cities, while intercity buses make more stops and cover smaller towns and varied routes. They sometimes leave from different terminals or different sections of the same terminal, so check which one your route uses. For booking, the apps are split: use the Kobus app or website for express buses, and Bus Tago or Txbus for intercity buses, and both let you pick seats and pay by card, with some English support. You can also just buy at the terminal kiosk or counter. Big hubs like the Seoul Express Bus Terminal in Gangnam and Central City handle huge networks, and you go to the platform number on your ticket and board. Get there 10 to 15 minutes early, keep your ticket for the seat number, and note that longer routes have a rest-stop break where you reboard the same bus. Naver Map or Kakao Map will show schedules and which terminal to use.
