Unmanned stores without any staff seem to be everywhere in Korea now. How do I get in, pay, and use these stores as a foreigner?

Unmanned self-service stores have exploded in Korea, covering convenience stores, ice cream shops, cafes, study cafes, laundromats, and photo booths. The basic flow is the same in most: you walk in (some require scanning a card or QR at the door to unlock it, especially late at night), pick what you want, and pay at a self-checkout kiosk by scanning the barcode and tapping your card. For ice cream or snack shops, you grab items and scan them at the kiosk, which takes card or sometimes mobile pay. Some newer ones use camera and sensor tech where you scan a card on entry, take what you want, and walk out with payment charged automatically, similar to Amazon Go. A foreign credit or debit card usually works at the kiosks, and contactless tap is common. If a door needs a card to enter at night, any credit card or a transit card often just opens it without charging you. If you get stuck, there is almost always a phone number or intercom posted to reach a remote manager, and CCTV is everywhere, so it is quite safe.
